“Five extremely gifted Dutch gents who almost made the reed quintet seem the best musical format on the planet.” – The Times
A close-knit ensemble of five reed players from the Netherland, Calefax is a classical group with a pop mentality. For 35 years, the adventurous quintet has been acclaimed for its virtuosic playing, brilliant arrangements, and innovative stage presentation. The programme presents a captivating blend of classical compositions, including Bach’s intricate Baroque harmonies, Schubert’s Romantic lyricism, and the jazzy flavours of Gershwin’s iconic An American in Paris.
