Mark Lemaire’s unique guitar style incorporates fingerpicking, slap-and-tap harmonics, hand percussion, and a delicate touch that goes straight to your heart. While the solo guitar pieces stand as complete statements, Mark’s harmonies with Cindy Lemaire are so perfectly matched that they seem like two people with one voice.
Mark’s music is informed by his years as a recording engineer and producer for everyone from the San Francisco Symphony to Rolling Stones’ producer Jimmy Miller. While Mark and Cindy tour the US, Sweden, England and Scotland, this is their first visit to New Zealand.
With four albums released and an exemplary stage presence, Mark and Cindy are a pleasure to listen to and fun to just be with.
Whiter Shade of Pale
Buendia OMc Highly Figured "The Tree" Mahogany, Adirondack Spruce
“One of many highlights - for me - was Mark's solo fusion of `Whiter Shade of Pale' and Bach's `Air on a G String'. Simply breathtaking.”
-Don Hurley- Ruskin House Folk Club—Croydon, England
“Mark’s pick work is impressive, though it would be an injustice to count his lyricism second-- he borrows from a range of inspiration to create his own sound. The result is an Americana-folk hybrid with hints of classical…. After years touring the U.S. and Europe, Mark and Cindy Lemaire are in sync.”
-Monterey County Weekly
“Complex, sophisticated song arrangements. His guitar playing is so good, it might distract you from his compelling, engaging melodies and sharp songwriting… But only for a second."
-Richard Rice, Director, San Francisco Free Folk Festival
